Home health speech-language pathologist jobs across Texas

SLP contracts covering communication, cognition, voice, and swallowing in the home.

Home health speech therapy puts you in front of the patient’s actual diet, their actual kitchen, and the family who prepares their food — which matters enormously for dysphagia, where compliance with a modified diet is the whole ballgame and is almost impossible to verify from a clinic.

Universal Rehab places ASHA-certified speech-language pathologists with home health, hospice, and HCS and waiver provider agencies across Texas on 1099 contracts. You set the caseload, hours, and coverage area.

What the work involves

  • Swallowing evaluation and dysphagia management, including diet-texture recommendations and caregiver training on safe feeding.
  • Aphasia, apraxia, and dysarthria treatment following stroke or brain injury.
  • Cognitive-communication assessment and treatment for patients with memory, attention, or executive-function change.
  • Voice and fluency caseloads, and augmentative or alternative communication where speech is not a realistic route.
  • Documentation in our EMR, with AI assistance built in to reduce charting time.

Pay, schedule, and support

  • You set the caseload. As a 1099 clinician you choose your visits, hours, and coverage area — from one patient at a time to a full load.
  • Per-visit pay, paid weekly. Competitive per-visit rates at or above market, with weekly direct deposit and transparent payroll.
  • Charting that ends with your day. Our own EMR has AI assistance built in so documentation does not follow you home.
  • We handle the back office. Scheduling, authorisations, and billing are ours. Clinical support is available 24/7.

What you need

  • Current Texas speech-language pathologist licence in good standing.
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).
  • CPR certification and current professional liability coverage.
  • Reliable transportation, current auto insurance, and completed credentialing before the first visit.

Questions speech-language pathologists ask

What does a home health SLP caseload look like?

Mixed — dysphagia and post-stroke communication make up much of it, alongside cognitive-communication work and voice. Referrals come from home health, hospice, and waiver programmes, so the range is wider than a single setting.

Do you accept clinical fellows?

Positions ask for a current Texas licence and ASHA CCC-SLP. If you are completing your fellowship year, contact us about timing rather than assuming the answer.

Can I set my own schedule?

Yes. Every position is a 1099 contract — you choose the visits, the days, and how far you are willing to travel.
