Home health registered nurse jobs across Texas
Skilled nursing contracts in the home, with the caseload and coverage area you choose.
Home health nursing is one patient at a time, in their own house, with the time to actually look at what is going on — the medication they have quietly stopped taking, the wound that is not progressing, the daughter who is exhausted. It is a different job from a hospital floor, and most nurses who move into it do not go back.
Universal Rehab places registered nurses with home health, hospice, and HCS and waiver provider agencies across Texas on 1099 contracts. You choose the number of visits, the days you work, and the area you cover, and the back office handles scheduling, authorisations, and billing.
What the work involves
- Skilled assessment and ongoing monitoring of patients with complex or unstable conditions.
- Wound care, including assessment, dressing changes, and progress tracking.
- Medication management and reconciliation, and patient and caregiver teaching.
- Infusion and injection administration where the plan of care calls for it.
- Coordination with the therapy disciplines on the same case, and documentation in our AI-assisted EMR.

- Charting that ends with your day. Our own EMR has AI assistance built in so documentation does not follow you home.

What you need
- Current Texas registered nurse licence in good standing.
- CPR certification and current professional liability coverage.

Questions registered nurses ask
Is this private duty or intermittent visits?
Primarily intermittent skilled visits through home health, hospice, and waiver programmes. Tell us what you are looking for and we will be straight about what is available in your area.
Can I do this alongside a hospital job?
Yes, and many do. A 1099 contract lets you take a single patient or a full caseload, and change your mind without renegotiating.
How does pay work?
Per visit, at rates at or above market, with weekly direct deposit and transparent payroll.
