About the Role

Our Houston OTs treat the whole person — physical recovery paired with cognitive, psychological, and environmental factors. One-on-one patient time and no productivity caps.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design plans of care for ADL retraining, upper-extremity rehab, cognitive recovery, and home safety
  • Support patients with emotional, psychological, and psychiatric disorders as part of a whole-person approach
  • Conduct home safety assessments and recommend adaptive equipment
  • Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team (PT, SLP, RN, CSW, RD) on shared patients
  • Document visits in our proprietary EMR on the day of service
  • Educate family caregivers on transfer technique, adaptive strategies, and routine-building

Requirements

  • Active Texas Occupational Therapist license
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Reliable transportation and valid Texas driver’s license with clean MVR
  • Minimum 1 year clinical experience (home health, neuro, or hand preferred)
  • Experience with cognitive rehab, psychiatric OT, or IDD populations a plus

Why Universal Rehab in Houston

OT is our heritage. Our founder is an occupational therapist, and every clinical decision still runs through an OT lens — the whole person, not just the diagnosis. Our Houston OTs are supported by a full interdisciplinary team and a culture that treats occupational therapy as central, not adjunct.

What Occupational Therapy Looks Like in Houston

Houston's patient population is as varied as the city itself. In a single week, OT work here might include upper-extremity strengthening for a post-stroke patient in Kingwood, cognitive rehab for a TBI survivor in Montrose, ADL retraining for an aging-in-place client in Bellaire, and home modifications for an IDD client served through a group-home setting. Houston is also home to the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical complex in the world, and the metro's combined hospital discharge volume drives a complex home-health caseload that would take years to encounter in a traditional clinic job. Psychiatric OT is also part of our scope — a growing area Claire has always championed, and one where home-based care changes outcomes.

Schedule, Pay, and Benefits

  • Choose your caseload size and geographic coverage area
  • Weekly direct-deposit payroll with transparent per-visit rates
  • Proprietary EMR designed by clinicians, not billing teams
  • Continuing-education support — we want you certified in the specialties you care about
  • Active referral incentive program for clinicians on payroll
  • 24/7 on-call clinical support
