About the Role

Our Houston LCSWs work across the full scope of clinical social work — individual and family psychotherapy, CBT for anxiety/depression/PTSD, grief counseling, substance-use assessment, and behavioral intervention for IDD. You coordinate with our medical team so behavioral care stays integrated, not siloed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial clinical assessments in patients’ homes or via secure telehealth
  • Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy — CBT, trauma-informed, motivational interviewing
  • Coordinate with primary care physicians and the Universal Rehab clinical team on shared patients
  • Support patients adjusting to chronic illness, disability, grief, or recent diagnosis
  • Design behavior plans for IDD clients in home, group-home, and day-habilitation settings
  • Document clinical notes in our proprietary EMR compliant with Texas licensure standards
  • Maintain confidentiality per Texas and federal mental-health regulations

Requirements

  • Active Texas LCSW license (or LCSW-S for supervision roles)
  • Minimum 2 years post-licensure clinical experience
  • Experience with medical settings, chronic illness, or IDD populations preferred
  • Reliable transportation and valid Texas driver’s license
  • Bilingual Spanish strongly valued
  • Comfortable with secure telehealth platforms

Why Universal Rehab in Houston

Our Houston LCSWs are embedded in a medical-home team — meaning you're not practicing in isolation. Every shared patient gets a real care-plan conversation across LCSW, PT, OT, SLP, RN, and RD. Learn more about our approach to clinical social work and behavioral therapy. We cover urban Houston plus the suburban and semi-rural areas where behavioral-health access is thinnest.

What Clinical Social Work Looks Like in Houston

Houston has real behavioral-health need and a patchwork of access. Our LCSWs fill that gap by taking care directly into homes. Caseload mix includes patients navigating a recent cancer diagnosis, stroke survivors whose depression is secondary to their neurological injury, IDD clients with behavior plans tied to state Medicaid waiver programs, and families in grief or caregiver burnout. Houston's community mental-health and IDD landscape includes The Harris Center for Mental Health and IDD and the Texas Health and Human Services IDD waiver programs — useful context for any LCSW working in this market.

Schedule, Pay, and Benefits

  • Caseload size and session cadence you control
  • Mix of home-based visits and secure telehealth
  • Weekly direct-deposit payroll
  • Continuing-education support for specialized certifications (trauma, substance use, play therapy)
  • Strong supervision and peer consultation built into the culture
  • Active referral incentive program for clinicians on payroll
